What Causes Black Lung Disease And Shortness Of Breath?
my father is 77 has black lung and of course has trouble breathing and catching his breath at times, there s a lot I m sure the dr s telling him that he s not letting me know but he did tell me today that the dr put him on a thyroid medication and they told him that it wasn t working properly so my question is what would make this happen? Thank you.
hi sir/mam,black lung disease is also called coal workers pneumoconiosis.it is caused due to occupational exposure to coal dust, carbon particles.the main stay of treatment is only symptomatic. 1)bronchodilators to relieve breathlessness 2)oxygen therapy 3)complete cessation of smoking. 4)corticosteroids may slow the disease progression. depending upon the severity of disease, symptom tolerance and medication compliance, regular follow up is advised. lung transplantation is an option when all the conservative measures fail. coming to thyroid medication, there is no point of not working properly.with the levels of TSH,dose adjustments are done also taking patient's improvement into consideration.hope my answer clarifies your doubts.if you can upload me your father's reports,i can advise you better.any further queries, please do mention.i'm happy to help you.thank you.take care.bye.
