What Causes Black Patches Around The Knee Post Orthoscopic Knee Surgery?
I am active and had Orthroscopic Knee Surgery a few months ago. Since the surgery I have been getting black patches around my knee area. There is no pain or discomfort. I was taking aspen for 60 days after my surgery. I also take blood pressure medication.
Let me tell you that symptoms described by you that may be due to orthoscopic knee surgery. Because Metallosis of titanium alloy has frequently been reported in orthopedic literature as black staining of the periprosthetic tissue due to debris from the metallic wear and tissue reaction after knee replacement surgery.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
