Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Black Spot On Upper Back When Diagnosed With Congenital Heart Defect?
I have a fairly large dark black irregular shaped spot on my left side upper back. It appeared suddenly. It does not hurt but it does feel warm and tender to the touch. It looks like when a dark color clothing bleeds on the skin, but it will not rub or wash off. I don t believe it is a sunburn since I have not spent time outside recently. My medial background is complex as I was born with a congenital heart defect and have survived 3 OHS included pulmonary valve replacement 7 year ago.
As per my clinical experience, as there is warmth and tenderness over the spot over upper back; underlying inflammation is major concern. Possibility include pre-existing asymptomatic sebaceous cyst with secondary bacterial infection with staph aureus or others.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
