Hi,

Heparin belong to the group of medications known as anticoagulants or blood thinners that is used in the treatment and prevention of blood clots. Heparin is used in the treatment and prevention of some disease conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, peripheral arterial embolism, atrial fibrillation etc. Development of redness, pain, swelling, irritation, bruising, skin changes etc., under the skin at the site of Heparin administration is common.

Blisters develop and then a black red center occurs within few hours or 1-2 days after the the administration of Heparin injection. So, it is normal to appear some small bruises or small lumps at the injection sites. Try to select alternative sites for injection and don't get injection at the swollen or bruised areas. These black spots or lumps will disappear within few days without any medical treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
