Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctor, my sister is 66 years old and was taking mucinex when after a few days she started to get black stools. She took the mucinex for 3 weeks and then stopped. The black stools stopped 36 hours after she stopped the mucinex. Does this make sense? Thank you.
There is no such side effect of mucinex. There might be some associated problem. May be related to some food item or any other medicine taken along with it. If it happens again please do a stool test and meet surgeon, else don't worry.
I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write for follow up queries. I wish your sister good health. Kindly write a feedback. Thanks
