What Causes Black Tongue Along With Altered Sense Of Taste?

Good morning, I have been taking Spatone iron water on and off for a while because I am vegetarian and have suffered with anaemia in the past. I have had one for the past 3 days & this morning I noticed, with horror, that my tongue was quite black. I visited the dentist incidentally 2 days ago & there were no problems, just a little plaque which he removed. I did rinse with Corsodyl that evening (just once) and had a nasty taste in my mouth afterwards and the following day. Any ideas?

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain the black discoloration of tongue is mostly nothing serious and the condition is known as COATED TONGUE and in your case it seems simply due to staining with the Spatone Iron water and you need not to worry about it just maintain a good Oral hygiene and can do soda bicarb gargle or gargle with 1:1 solution of water and hydrogen peroxide..
As far as foul taste in mouth with Corsodyl mouthwash is concerned bad taste is commonly observed in first time users and is a temporary problem which resolves over time..
You can avoid using the mouthwash if the foul taste persists and can simply do the above prescribed gargles
Clean the tongue gently using a tongue cleaner and maintain a good Oral hygiene..
Drink plenty of water..
