What Causes Blackouts While On Norvasc?
I m on Norvasc 10 mg. Initially it was less - 5mg. BP - systolic went from 155 to 145. (current) diastolic went from 70 to 60. I m also on Lisinopril 20 mg/ daily. Initially my diabetes blood sugar went sky high for about 3-4 days then normalized. Then flared up for a few days off and on for about two weeks. Currently it s stabilized. But now I m starting to notice near blackouts for about 5 seconds per incident about one per day. Any suggestions? Steve

Norvasc, generic for amlodipine, is a vasodilator drug which helps to lower blood pressure (bp).
You say that your bp has been dropped from 150 to 145.
The symptoms you are currently experiencing like blackouts are suggesting that your bp has been dropped too much. Try to measure your bp when you have these episodes.
You should report this to your caring doctor as you need to change therapy or lower the dose of the drugs you are currently taking.
Before you visit your doctor, monitor your bp, especially during the blackout episodes and record the results to pass them to your doctor.
A good cardiac check up is recommended to rule out cardiovascular event ( stroke).
