What Causes Bleeding After An Intercourse?

What can cause bleeding after intercourse? I am free from sexually transmitted disease and infection, my pap was clear with no indication of cancer, or pre-cancerous cell changes, I have no fibroids, tumors, or growths, no endometriosis, and free from most common causes. I have been with my husband and only him for 6 years. This was not a problem until the end of my pregnancy and after. It is about 50 % of the time we have sex. We have sex infrequently about 2-5 times per month. We are concerned as this is disturbing, but considering maybe because he is larger it could be causing it, I m sensitive to the condoms we are using, or some other minor issue.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Bleeding during intercourse is a very common complaint. In the vast majority of individuals the bleeding is nothing serious and will tend to go away on its own.

Most cases of vaginal bleeding after intercourse can occur if you are near the time of your period, bleeding from your uterus and any trauma to the walls of the vagina.

Most of the time this occurs when penetration takes place without enough lubrication. This type of bleeding is usually painful.

I would suggest you to undergo speculum examination by consulting your doctor for complete evaluation. Your doctor will likely be able to tell you the likely source of bleeding and can suggest the treatment.
Thank you.
