What Causes Bleeding After Blood Donation?

I gave blood today at about 2 pm, I took the bandages off about 5 pm. About 5:45 pm I went outside and started cleaning out my car (picking up trash and wiping console clean) when i noticed a large amount of blood dripping from my arm. It got everywhere and almost soaked a small wash cloth. My mom put a bandage on it but I want to know if i should be concerned? I have a sickle cell trait, and have been diagnosed with anemia in the past but my iron was normal today.

Hello,

You should not donate blood as you have multiple hematological problems.

Apply right compression bandage. If bleeding persist consult a physician and start on drugs like tranexamic acid to control bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
