What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse With An IUD?

I m a 34 year old female, good health one child natural birth no complications in 2001. I m currently on IUD have been for years. Today while having intercourse with my BF of 3 years he noticed I was bleeding . Bright red my cycle just ended on 05/11/15 I m very regular. I m in no pain didn t feel any different.
