Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently experienced bleeding during intercourse. It doesn t happen every time. It happens periodically and has happened both times recently when I have been on top during intercourse. My OBGYN once told me that my soft tissue was coming out of my cervix. Could this be the cause of my bleeding? Can it be something more serious even though it happens occasionally and not on a regular basis?
The possible causes of bleeding during intercourse includes physical trauma to external genital organs, pelvic inflammatory disease, prolapse of cervix, infection and possible malignancy to list a few. It is advisable to get evaluated for possible listed causes by a specialist. In addition, keeping an update with recent pap smear is also recommended to every women of reproductive age group.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
