What Causes Bleeding At The Crease Of The Area Between Groin And Labia?
I am a female and have an area at the crease of where the groin and labia meet that keeps bleeding. It appears to have a small dark blood vessel about a 1/4 inch long near the surface of the skin. I am diabetic and thought initially that this problem was due to lack of blood sugar control but I have had good control for about three months and this area continues to bleed now throughout the day. I was wondering what this is and who should I see about this problem?
It is likely that the area is inflamed. Inflammation of the these body creases is called intertrigo. Inflammation occurs due to a combination of friction, moisture and heat.
Bacterial or fungal infection can accompany intertrigo so it is possible that there is also an infection present.
Your GP should be able to help you treat it for you.
Treatment would require: (a) keeping the surfaces separate as possible eg with cotton or liner material (b)reduce heat (c)use a barrier cream (eg zinc based or petrolatum) or powder (d)may also need an anti bacterial or anti fungal powder/cream
I hope this helps
