Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have frequent bleeding and clotting when I have a bowel movement. I take high doses of calcium so am constipated often. I have a fairly constant feeling of urgency to have a BM even right after I have had one. My FNP said I had tags rather than hemorrhoids.
Bleeding during bowel needs further evaluation. There are several reasons for bleeding with bowel movements like hemorrhoids, anal fissures (associated with pain), polyps or tumor in colon, infections, inflammatory bowel disease etc. Rectal examination, proctoscopy, stool microscopy and culture, and colonoscopy are warranted at this point Please follow up with a Primary care provider / gastroenterologist for further evaluation.
Hope I was able to answer your query Please address further questions here Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
