Hello,

The causes of rectal prolapse in children are due to:
1. Increased intra-abdominal pressure in ex-coughing
2. Short or long term diarrhea
3. Parasitic whip worm infection
4. Cystic fibrosis
5. Pelvic floor weakness
6. Malnutrition
7. Hirsprung disease

If prolapse associated with bleeding like hemorrhoids or necrosis or due to hard stools, then you need to consult pediatrician surgeon, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
