What Causes Bleeding During Bowel Movement After A Chemotherapy?

I am 35 years old and underwent chemotherapy last year for breast cancer. I recently discovered that I have a benign growth on the left side of my uterus and as of the past two weeks have been experiencing hot flashes. My period just recently ended (3 days ago), but I am bleeding again after my bowl movement - bright red blood. Is this cause for concern? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have vaginal bleeding after a bowel movement this may be due to a uterine mass. As you already have a benign mass in the uterus, the bleeding can be due to this.
On the other hand, it is best to have a visit with your doctor and a transvaginal ultrasound to better determine if there are uterine lesions that are responsible for this and which is the best way to manage them.
This is very important especially given the history of breast cancer treated with chemotherapy.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
