What Causes Bleeding From Protrusion In The Rectum?

A friend of mine has a condition which causes him to bleed from a protrusion in the rectum when he goes to have a B M. He will not discuss it nor will he see a doctor. I have seen the fresh drops of blood in the bathroom and on the toilet seat. I am terrified for him as he is a close friend. What can it be?
