What Causes Bleeding From The Gums And Ulcers In The Mouth?
Hi, last Thursday my 9 yr. old daughter caught a fever and was complaining of a soar throat. I then noticed her ear was very red and and she got a little blister like bump on it. The bump went away which then caused her ear to feel dry and the next day she complained of her mouth hurting and soar throat. Then she got canker soars in her mouth which spreaded on her lips. Two days later my 11 yr. old caught the same symptoms except for the red ear. They both are feeling better but when they brush their teeth their gums bleeding and are soar. The soars are healing slowly but surely. Can you please give me a clue to what can be going on

Herpes labialis could be the cause which is due HSV-1 infection common in children and elderly. It causes ulcers in the mouth and lips which are painful. It spread from person to person through direct contact or droplets spread. It resolve spontaneously and no anti viral treatment needed. Symptomatic management is important to reduce symptoms. Take plenty of water and food rich in vitamins. Can use analgesics for pain relief.
