What Causes Bleeding From The Rectum?

My 32 yr. old daughter has seen blood in the toilet and blood from her rectum when urinating, not having a bowel movement. Not every time. My father died of colon cancer and I have regular colonoscopy exams as a result. How concerned should my daughter be about these symptoms?

Greetings
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Bleeding per rectum should be taken seriously especially when her dad died of colon cancer. There are many causes of per rectal bleeding; some are serious while others are not. It can include hemorrhoids, due to Gastrointestinal infection or ulcer to inflammatory bowel disease to colon cancer.

Visit a gastroenterologist, get colonoscopy/endoscopy done for diagnosis of the cause of rectal bleed.

Thanks
