Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctor, I recently had a liver infection 2 months back which subsided in a weeks time. As a regular checkup I had got my blood test done. The SGPT is 147 and SGOT is 68. Platelet count is 140000. I am experiencing gum bleeding. Can there be any connection to these?
Bleeding gums is commonly seen due to infection in gums leading to Gingivitis or Periodontitis if the infection has reached deep to the bone.. Low platelet count can also be a cause of bleeding and you have a slightly low count, so my suggestion is to once get evaluated by your Dentist to check for gum infection.. Gum infection can also cause bleeding which can become severe due to low platelet count.. So you need to get a thorough examination done and in case if there is gum infection you should get thorough scaling done.. You can also do gum paint application.. You can also consult a Hematologist to rule out for the cause of low platelet count and get treated..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
