Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just now i q-tipped my left ear and noticed blood on it. This has never happened to me before. I might have possibly went a little too deep or hard but not by much. Is this something that needs immediate attention? Do i need to make a doctor appt. or just heals itself?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain penetration of q-tip deep into the ear can lead to injury to the wall of ear canal and can lead to slight bleeding..
At times perforation of ear drum can also lead to bleeding and even hearing loss can occur, but in case if you do not have any hearing loss and buzzing or ringing in ear you need not to worry as then the chances of perforation of ear drum are less probable..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and an otoscopic examination can help in proper diagnosis. If there is just a minor injury another is needed to be done, but in case of slight perforation the physician can advise you antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine, decongestants..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
