What Causes Bleeding In Inner Ear Upon Cleaning With A Q-tip?
Hi, I poked a pin into my ear because I could feel the ear wax and I wanted to use something small to be able to move it. I felt the pin go through something and then using a cotton bud I saw blood on the Q tip. I read it was physically impossible to rupture your ear drum like this and the bleeding has stopped now but I was wondering if it could be anything serious
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain there is a possibility that due to putting pin in ear it might have injred the mucosa of ear canal leading to bleeding.. But in case if you experienced pain and there is some loss of hearing there is a possibility that you have injury to eardrum leading to perforation.. A confirmatory diagnosis can be done it after a clinical evaluation and Otoscopic examination.. In case if there is only injury to Ear canal then it will resolve gradually without any problems.. But of eardrum is perforated mild perforation can be healed with antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller, decongestant and steroids..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
