Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, we have a two year old that has had a fever ranging from 100 to 102 the past couple of days. She also has low appetite and will barely eat. We went to the doctor today and she was swabbed for strep which was negative. The doctor still prescribed amoxicillin and we are alternating Tylenol and Motrin. Tonight she also started bleeding from her top teeth/gums when we tried to brush. Could it be more serious then a minor bacteria, saw online about gingovostomatitis?
Detailed answer - As per your query your child has fever along with loss of appetite, lethargy and gum bleeding which occur due to viral infection in body causes by herpes virus and could be because of improper cleanliness of mouth and gums which becomes susceptible to bacterial infection.
I would suggest you not to panic about anything, its a minor infection. Rinse mouth with medicated mouth wash containing xylocaine or hydrogen peroxide. Rinse the mouth with betadine gargles. Avoid giving any sharp food substance. Visit general practitioner once and start giving prescribed medication. Start getting teeth examined by dentist after every 6 months. Take a small cloth wet and clean teeth with it. Symptoms will resolve in one week.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
