Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Bleeding In The Nose And Ears While On Clopidogrel?
I had stints put in my upper leg due to blood clots blocking my femoral artery. I am currently taking clopidogrel 75mg. I recently had a nose bleed and later blood from my ear. Am I correct in assuming this is a side effect from the medication? I am also taking Atorvostatin and gabapentin.
Clopidogrel 75 mg is a blood thinner medication, and it's used to prevent blood clots in patients with high risk, after putting a stent. It is generally taken for 6-12 months.
Patients that take Clopidogrel have a high risk for bleeding episodes, so I suggest you consult a doctor for a physical examination to find the cause of the bleeding and to replace Clopidogrel.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
