What Causes Bleeding Next Morning After Sex?

I had sex for the first time a few days ago, but I didn't bleed at all during it. My boyfriend is worried that I lied about being a virgin. The next morning I thought i had started my period but today i'm basically off of it. Did i mistake the hymen breaking for a period or what?

Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

The "breaking" of a woman's hymen during the first attempt at vaginal penetration is not the same for every woman. For one, many girls accidentally rupture their hymen playing sports or with other activities long before they try to have sex. In addition, your hymen is a ring shaped membrane that has a different sized opening for every woman. In some women the hymen can merely stretch open from intercourse rather than rupture completely, especially if your vagina is relaxed and you are well lubricated during sex. This can mean that you may not bleed or bleed very little from your first attempt at intercourse. And in your particular case- you did bleed, but just such a small amount that you didn't see it until the next day. I believe you mistook your "period" for the bleeding from your hymen, especially if it was not at the time when you expected your period and it was so short. And besides, you are a virgin until the first time you have sexual intercourse, no matter what your hymen does.

I am sorry your boyfriend is giving you a hard time, but I hope the information I have given you can help you let him know that your hymen did probably bleed, and that you definitely were a virgin until you shared that special part of your sexual history with him. Please use contraception if you plan to continue having intercourse and do not want to become pregnant.

I hope this information was helpful and that I was able to answer your question.

Hallow Dear,

You seem to be right.

When you have intercourse in lying position, sometimes most of the blood form the rupture of hymen goes in to the vagina and gets accumulated there. In most of the first intercourses, complete insertion of the penis is not possible; it could be only glans entering the vagina. In such cases, the hymen may get partially torn with very little bleeding which may go in to the vagina. Vagina has a tremendous distensibility and hence can accommodate the blood.

When you get up next morning, the accumulated blood comes out due to gravity. So it is most likely that you have mistaken hymen breaking bleeding to menstruation.

I hope this helps you.
