What Causes Bleeding Post A Lumbar Steroid Injection?

I had a lumbar steroid injection 2 weeks ago and I am post menopausal and started to bleed suddenly. On the same day I went for my 2nd injection which was an epidural lumbar steroid injection. My doctor sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. Is this bleeding due to the injections?
