Hi,
Brief answer: In my opinion, your daughter likely has an allergy to grass pollen. Allergy testing can confirm the diagnosis.
Detailed answer: An allergy to grass pollen is very common in children. Allergies can present in different ways. In some people when they breathe in grass pollen, it cause
sneezing, stuffy, runny, and itchy nose or watery, red, and itchy eyes. In other people allergies can cause cough,
chest tightness, and
shortness of breath. Some people only have an
allergic reaction if the grass touches their skin, with small red bumps (hives or welts) appearing within minutes on the areas of skin that touched the grass.
Allergy testing can be performed by an allergy doctor (allergist) to determine if your child is allergic to grass. In the meantime, wash any exposed skin areas with warm water and gentle cleanser. Cold compresses and
calamine lotion can be applied to help relieve the hives and itching. The allergy doctor will have more guidance about how to manage and treat allergies.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
