Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have a burn on my forearm from an oven coil. It's about 2 inches long and 1/4" wide. It was pretty much completely healed. First I was charred skin and wasn't painful. Then as that peeled off it was wet and hurt to the touch. But that has since healed and all that was left was for sh akin growing. This was over a month ago. 2days ago I noticed what looked like a blister starting. Now it's a quarter inch long blister in the middle of the healed skin. It's raised and pink. The skin over it is tough. It still isn't painful but I'm concerned that it's doing this after it healed. I did get cellulitus once after a bee sting so I'm not sure if I'm prone to infections. Should I do to the Dr or will conservative home treatment work? Thank you.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain a hard skinned lump over the burn wound can be most probably a Keloid that is formed at the site of scar or injury and is made of fibrous tissue.. It is mostly painless until it gets infected..
I would suggest you to consult a General Physician and get evaluated and in case if it is a Keloid surgical removal can be done. While at times other treatments like steroid injections, silicone pads and pressure dressing can also be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
