What Causes Blisters Leading To Discolouration Inside And On Top Of Lower Lip?

Hi! Yesterday I had a couple of very small water blisters inside and on top of the lower lip. I unconsciously found myself rubbing my lower lip against my teeth, trying to pop it.Today I noticed my lower left side of lip had what appeared to be a type of bruising. Broken blood vessels just underneath skin. It looked like I had been hit or bit my lip too hard or hit my lip. The bruising has gone away tonight, but now I noticed that most of my lower lip is slightly blue tinged. Mostly around the outer area, left and right, but not in the middle. Why is my whole lip discolored now. No more bruising, just slighlty blueish?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain small water blisters occurring suddenly on the inside and top of lip can be due to some allergic reaction..

The bruising and bluish tinge also occurs due to allergic reaction and slight discolouration can be a result of post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation as in allergic reaction inflammation also occurs..

In case if you still have blisters present you can take antihistamines like Allegra or benadryl ..

Application of steroid based ointments on the lip can help..

Ice packs can provide relief..

Slowly the discolouration will resolve as the inflammation subsides..

If it still remains hydroquinone and tretinoic acis based creams can be applied on lips..

In case if the blisters are persistent and does not resolve after a week or more you need to get checked for viral infection Herpes which causes cold sores which are painless blisters on lips and if it is diagnosed antiviral oral and topical medication like acyclovir therapy is to be taken..
