Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A friend has a 1 yr. Old who has what looks like a diaper rash but is blistering and spreading on her body with a fever. The mother was babysitting for another child at the time who had the same symptoms. Took one yr. Old to after hours clinic but they have no idea what it is. It must be painful cause she cries more than usual. Any advice?
A diaper rash may sometimes get infected. The fact that it started as a diaper rash and now it is blistering and spreading on the body warrants a visit with the doctor as soon as possible. A bacterial infection has to be ruled out, especially S.aureus infection. Antibiotics would be necessary in case a bacterial infection is the cause of her symptoms.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
