What Causes Blisters On The Bottom Lip While On Fluorouracil?
I have been using Fluorouracil for almost three weeks. I have bleeding blisters on my bottom lip (even though I didn t put the cream there) and I have been totally wiped out along with the expected skin reactions in many areas. Is this related to the Fluorouracil? Also the area on my face that is most irritated had a dry flaky patch that looked like eczema previous to applying the cream. I wonder if the reaction was not to precancerous cells but to the eczema. Thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain blisters on bottom lip during the course of using Fluorouracil that is used to kill cancer cells and is a drug of anti-metabolite group..
Bleeding sores on lips are a side effect of the this drug only and you should immediately consult your treating doctor who can rule out the cause for the bleeding ulcers after a proper clinical evaluation and then only treatment can be advised accordingly..
As of now you should do cool compresses over the sores to arrest bleeding and reduce inflammation.. In case if they are painful apply Lignocaine gel over it to relieve pain,.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
