Hello,
Your wife has been prescribed
Normaxin. She is feeling bloated and weak. You have not mentioned anything regarding your wife's past illness. Normaxin is a combination of Clidinium,
Chlordiazepoxide,
Dicyclomine. It is used commonly to treat IBS. Your wife is experiencing symptoms of IBS,
bloating, mucus in stool,
constipation, the feeling that you haven’t finished a bowel movement, cramps and stomach pain, etc.
Bloating may be caused by food intolerances or sensitivities, bacterial overgrowth in your
small intestine, oily food,
trans fat, changes in the gut microbes, etc. Your wife should take a fiber-rich diet, avoid oily or spicy food and drink plenty of fluids while taking the medicine. Normaxin works by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and gut (intestine), relieves cramps, pain, bloating and discomfort.
You are suggested to get her clinically examined by a GP and get the required tests and investigations done to detect IBS or any other pathology that is causing her discomfort so that she can be treated at the earliest. In the meantime, she should avoid to take food that may trigger the symptoms like wheat, dairy products, citrus fruits, beans, cabbage, milk and carbonated drinks. She should avoid stress as stress may aggravate the symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
