What Causes Bloating After Meals, Dry Mouth And Ribs Pain?

Hi, I m not sure if this is the best way to get through, but I figured it was worth a shot as I am trying to consult with a Gastroenterologist other than the local one I ve met with in person. I ve been dealing with several stomach-related issues that I have not been able to pinpoint as any specific condition or problem. Originally, I would feel very bloated after small meals for hours on end. I would get chapped lips, dry mouth, and bloating to the point where all I wanted to do was lay down. I was also experiencing regular pain under my ribs and a general discomfort. My regular doctor thought it was nothing more than gas bubbles getting caught and causing the pain. He told me to pick up Align as well as a prescribed digestive pill; they made me feel nauseous, so I stopped taking them and sought an opinion from a Gastroenterologist. After talking in more detail with the Gastro, he examined me physically and didn t notice anything alarming. I wasn t losing weight drastically, nor did he feel anything noteworthy. He told me to take Miralax 2x per day for the next week. I also had a blood test taken, as well as an abdominal xray and ultrasound. I went back a week later and told him the Miralax helped my bowels slightly but did not really fix the problems I was experiencing. As far as the tests, the Celiac s test came back negative as well as anything else specific he had in mind. The one thing he did see was my liver score was slightly elevated, aka a fatty liver . I have since cut down on carbs more, but I don t think this is what has been causing my discomfort. He said if my problems continued or got worse, he recommended a colonoscopy as the next plan of action. In the weeks since, I ve felt a little better. The bloating is much more infrequent as is the pain underneath my ribs. I ve been eating smaller meals, but new problems have arisen since. For the past couple of weeks, my bowel movements have become less frequent. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom, but with very little success. It seems like I haven t had a normal bowel movement in a few weeks. Physically I feel okay, but I know there are concerns if this continues. I also have been extremely gassy after I eat, and the smell is worse than normal. There s still some discomfort on my lower right side, sometimes feeling like someone has their hands pressing on me if I take a deep breath in. I drink a lot of water and have a pretty well-balanced diet. The bowel movements have been my biggest concern as of late, and I d love to know if you have any opinions on any of the above. Thanks for reading, I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

Hi,

A certain degree of bloating is normal but in case of excessive bloating, it may be a sign of food allergy, hiatal hernia, IBS or inflammatory bowel diseases.

So you should do gastroenterology work up but first try to change your dietary habits, it means: eat smaller meals but more frequently, avoid fried and spicy food, take menta tea, avoid alcohol and coffee, eat probiotics and milk products, boiled food and vegetables.

Also, there are medications such as Flobian, Magnesium oxide or certain Laxatives which may relieve such symptoms of this continue. If there won't is an improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry, and food allergy testing.

You should not be worried. These are probably varicose veins which are enlargement of legs veins due to weakened vessel wall and insufficiency of vein valves.

It is usually caused by long standing, obesity and genetic factors. Such veins break easily and hematomas may occur even after minor trauma. It should be treated as usual with ice compresses, resting, bandages with pressure, and elastic stockings.

In severe cases, it can be treated with surgery which is also a permanent solution then.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
