What Causes Bloating And Cramps After IUD Paragard Placement?
I just got an IUD paragard inserted yesterday. I have been feeling very bloated and gassy. I have lower back pain and cramping. Is this normal? How long will this pain last? Please help me understand what I am experiencing. I have never had children and do yo also started that my cervix was too small and insertion was very painful. First 24 hours were very painful. Is this normal please help answer my questions thank you
Most types of IUDs have side effects like abdominal bloating, pain, cervical motion tenderness, and irregular cycles. This can happen because of the hormones in the IUD or because of the object itself.
Most doctors would not suggest that one use a IUD when there are constant uterine infections.
In your case, it would be a good idea to check these symptoms with the doctor and discuss other types of contraception.
Most Gynecologists suggest using birth control pills or other less permanent forms of contraception in young women.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vignan Rachabattuni, General & Family Physician
