What Causes Bloating And Loose Stool When Diagnosed With GERD?
Hello, I m a 66 year old female with long history of gastroparesis, IBD, GERD. I have been on Erythromycin 500mg long term. However over the past month I have had increased bloating, cramps and loose stools. I m very tired and lightheaded at times. I have a GI doctor but he has a poor bedside matter and has not been helpful. Do you have any suggestions do help decrease my symptoms? Thank you for your time
I am sorry that you are not happy with the care that you are getting from your present gastroenterologist, you may need to consider switching to someone that you are comfortable with. Gastroparesis and GERD can contribute to bloating.
Gastoparesis and IBD can contribute the the cramps and loose stools so it is possible that your current conditions are playing a role in your symptoms. These are also possible side effects of the antibiotic. You are likely using medication for GERD, you may want to see if the dose can be adjusted upwards. You may also need to look at your diet to see if you are using any foods that may worsen bloating such as broccoli, cabbage, turnips, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, beans, carbonated drinks. Probiotics may also help to settle the gastrointestinal tract.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
