Hi,

There can be various reasons for bloating of the abdomen and gradual weight gain after a nephrectomy. Here are some possible causes:
* Fluid retention: After a nephrectomy, there may be some fluid accumulation in the body due to decreased kidney function. This can cause bloating of the abdomen and weight gain.
* Constipation: Constipation can also cause bloating of the abdomen and discomfort. Pain medication and reduced physical activity after surgery can contribute to constipation.
* Adrenal insufficiency: In rare cases, a nephrectomy can affect the function of the adrenal gland located on the same side as the removed kidney. This can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and abdominal bloating.
* Hormonal changes: The removal of one kidney can affect hormonal balance in the body, leading to weight gain and other symptoms.

It is important to see a nephrologist or another healthcare provider for an evaluation and proper diagnosis. They may order tests such as blood work or imaging to assess kidney function and check for other possible causes of your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
