What Causes Blocked Ear After Ear Surgery?

Good Evening DoctorI had undergone Ear surgery almost 1 year back, as i have hole on my ear drum. I dont have any discharge in ear before and after surgery. Few months back i had undergone ear test, to check if there is any hearing improvement. Tests confirmed that my hearing levels are well as normal human. Felt happy on hearing that. But i am sad to say that, i cannot feel any improvement in my hearing. I feel my ear is blocked. Doctor told that ear got blocked after surgery and eventually i will be relieved. But yet i could not come out of that. Please suggest me.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

There are two possibilities.
1) Impacted wax leading to pain.
2) Injury to the ear canal with buds leading to pain.
Take a pain killer like tylenol or ibuprofen.

You have to meet an ENT specialist to know the cause for earache and to clear the wax. Do not try to clean wax with buds. Buds are not meant for cleaning inside the ear and frequently lead wax impaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
