Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I have experienced a bowel movement discharge of mucus (small) with which looks to be small traces of blood. This is the third time in about a month and a half. Circumstances were the same each time I had it happen. I had had a very healthy bowel movement prior ( 1-2 hrs) to the discharge. I had eaten pizza and drank more alcohol (beer) than usual the night before. My usual is 1-2 beers, I had about 3 beers. This always seems to be the pattern when it happens. I ve become quite anxious because it has repeated. Any ideas or thoughts?
The infection in intestine or colon can cause mucus secretion and bleeding by damage to epithelia cells. The dysentery like infective etiology by amoeba parasite also can be possible. I suggest you to investigate which stool analysis for primary work up. If stool report shows any parasite or bacteria then antibiotic course need to be given.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
