What Causes Blood And Pus Discharge From Ear Inspite Of Giving Ampicillin?
My 10 year old daughter was cleaning her ear with a cotton bud and it slipped into the ear after so many days the bud came out but with smelly pus, water & blood. The ear was cleaned up and she was given ampicillin antibiotic. But after somedays we still saw some blood, though not smelly. What do I do?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. The reason for discharge of pus and blood from ear was because of impacted foreign body and its infection. However, the ear was cleaned and was treated with antibiotics means that the infection part of it has been taken care of. If blood is seen again after some days, then you need a follow up of her to look weather there is some infection which is left over and not healed completely. Kindly visit ENT Surgeon in this regard and get her ear examined, so that it could be appropriately treated if there is any. Kindly take care not to use any foreign body in the ear and avoid entry of water while taking bath, as there things may precipitate infection. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
