What Causes Blood Blisters On Arms And Swelling In Elbows?
Hi My name is Kay My husband has a lot blisters on his right arm and a few on his left arm. Alot of them started like scabs. I now have my right arm swollen above the Elbo it is warm to the touch and it tender to the touch . It started two days ago. most the blister have turned to blood blisters.
Blood blisters in the arms commonly occur because of injury on the skin or repeated rubbing or friction of some foreign object against the skin. It can be due to some reaction (side effect of medicines, food reaction/intolerance, allergy, etc).
Blood blisters do not need any treatment, just take care of your hygiene and they will go away on their own. Do not touch, pick or scratch it. But since you have swelling above the elbow and have discomfort due to blood blisters. You are suggested to get your husband and yourself clinically examined by a GP / dermatologist to detect if it is herpes. If report is positive you will be treated with antivirals and antibiotics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
