What Causes Blood Blots At The Site Of Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

Hello. I had my wisdom teeth removed on one side about 2 days ago and i read online that there should be a dark red blood clot where the tooth was extracted from. I haven't seen and red at all. And my gums are kinda yellowish. I looked into drysockets and I didn't match any of the symptoms. It doesn't hurt anymore than it has the past few days. But I'm getting worried.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it is correct that there should be a dark red blood clot at the extraction site, bit it should be seen immediately after an hour or so of extraction..

As the time passes by there is progressive healing and remodelling of the clot occurs and there is formation of tissue fibres and blood vessels as a part of healing and it starts turning whitish in colour..

Also if the gum flaps are compressed properly after extraction, you may not be able to see the inside of the extraction socket, that might cause more anxiety about the appearance..
You need not to worry if there is no pain and let the healing continue for another 3 to 4 days..
Have a follow up visit with your dentist in a week so that it can be ruled out for proper healing..

In case if there is repeated pain or if there is swelling or bad smell see your dentist soon..
As of now take the medicines as advised to you and also do warm saline gargles..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
