What Causes Blood Clot On Tongue After Tongue Piercing?
I got my tongue pierced Saturday night , and my tongue has been swollen which i know is normal I've had my tongue pierced before . I but realized this morning that on the bottom left side of my tongue there's like a blood clot as if it's bruised . So I'm just wondering will it go away on its own or should I seek medical attention ? It hurts on the left side of my tongue as well
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain a small blood clot or Hematoma at the site of tongue piercing can be due to rupture or piercing of a small blood vessel while piercing and leads to accumulation of blood in soft tissues leading to formation of a small hematoma.. Nothing to worry as it will resolve soon..
I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Motrin or Aleve for reducing swelling from tongue and pain if any.. Take a soft diet and plenty of fluids to avoid any injury to the area.. Maintain a good oral hygiene to prevent infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
