my father has recently been hospitalized for blood clots passing through his urine. What causes this? By the way, my father is 84 and he has his prostate layered to remove some of the tissue so he could urinate better. This procedure was done in November, 2016

Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern, Blood clots in urine after prostate surgery 10 months back ( not likely due to the surgery after 10 months of procedure.) It could be due to - Prostate hyperplasia ( enlargement ).. possible after laser procedure. - Kidney infection/ bladder infection - Kidney/ ureteric or bladder stone. Your father is already in hospital.. he would be investigated to confirm the cause & given specific treatment. Thanks
