What Causes Blood Clots While On Microgynon?

Hi i'm 18 and taking microgynon 30 for 6 months now, i've recently been told that my blood platelets are slightly higher than normal, which my Dr. considers satisfactory....however I'm worried about blood clots particularly as I'm taking a long haul flight to the States soon.
