Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was cleaning my son s right ear with cotton swabs and I didn t realize that I might of gone too deep inside, he started crying and blood came out. He s not bleeding anymore, it stopped after I cleaned the blood and he s not in any pain. I keep asking him if he can hear me and he can. Is there anything to be worried about?
Ears don't require cleaning. You should not fiddle with the ears. Since your son can hear and does not have any pain, the blood must have come out due to trauma. To stay on the safer side you should get him clinically examined by an ENT. Get him an audiology test done. Do not send him into the swimming pools.
While bathing him be very careful. These are to prevent infection and hence complications. In case you have some problem like ear pain, discomfort, itching, watery discharge, difficulty in hearing, etc you should go to an ENT and get clinically examined and treated. Never touch, scratch or fiddle with ears.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
