What Causes Blood In Bowel Movement?

I had bright red blood with a bowel movement today. It was a small amount, maybe 1-2 teaspoon size. Stool appeared normal otherwise. I'm on homeopathic hcg drops and have lost 14 lbs in the last three weeks. I do eat multigrain cheerios daily for fiber. My BMs have been every 2-3 days since being on this diet. My dad had colon cancer in his 50's. I am 46. Never had a colonoscopy.

Hi thank you for querry
According to your symptoms it may be external or intetnal hemorhoids or colorectal cancer.
because you have family history of colorectal cancer and your age above 40 you must go for proper examination first with proctoscopy to rule out hemoriods,
colonoscopy must be done to rule out any pathology.
if its negtive you must continue flexible sigmiodoscopy after every 5 years and colonoscopy after 10 years due to high risk group of family history.
Hope the answer will help you to making decision for consultant opinion.

Wish you a good health.
