Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I was cleaning my daughter s ear tonight and she twitched for it the qtip into her ear. Her ear had a little blood in it, but not much and she said it stopped hurting after a few minutes, should I be concerned? We re heading to the cottage tomorrow and I m worried about her getting water in her ear?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have blood in ear along with pain which could be because of trauma leading to ear canalinjury due to q tip insertion.
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and get complete examination done with otoscope and can start treatment accordingly. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics, anti inflammatory medications and corticosteroid ear drops in case of infection. For now apply warm dry compresses and take proper rest. Do Not touch or prick ear with any sharp object.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
