What Causes Blood In Mucus?

Hi, My right shoulder is paining since 4 days. I woke up one morning and it started paining. I have been applying Volini spray but it s not helping much. There is a slight swelling as well. Also around the same time I have been experiencing blood in my mucus. It s a lot sometimes and then it reduces with the number of times I spit. It s always more when I wake up. I have no cold or cough. What do you think it is? Thanks! - Peace

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to HCM...

You have blood in sputum when spit ...

So first simply bleed from gum should be ruled out ...
Dental causes can be ruled out by dental examination ....

If pyrorrhea like condition present than also gum bleeding there ..So should be ruled out first ...

Than if no dental cause found respi causes ruled out by x ray of chest area for further work up.....

Shoulder area swelling can be there if history of trauma present ...
Local part x ray taken for it ....
Apply cold compress over swollen area ...

Advise : consult physician for that ...

Take care .....
