Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am concerned about my bowel movements. I have had bright red blood in my stools on and off for about a year. At first I thought it was hemoriods. It has gotten worse and there has been mucus in my stools as well. When I wipe there is usually mucus and blood. Also my stools are irregular, meaning that at times it is hard to go and other times I feel I can not hold it, but usually I still feel as if I have to go even after I go. I am 35 and have know history of bowel cancer in my family.
Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. If it is due to malignancy then there is weight loss and altered bowel movements with flat stool will be there.
Please consult your Gastroentrologist who will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
