These could be Bronchitis,
Bronchiectasis,
Tuberculosis, Lung abscess or Cancer, etc. High rate of
cigarette smoking for long duration (over 13 years) is the main underlying etiology for above mentioned pathological diseases.
You have to undergo several test and investigations to narrow down the underlying causes and confirm the diagnosis. It will be also helpful to know the stage or prognosis of the current disease. Digital chest X-RAY would be the FIRST investigation in this case.
Some other investigations like bloody
sputum culture, bronchial fiber endoscopy or CT virtual bronchoscopy, repeated blood count, FNAC of the
enlarged lymph node, etc., are required according to stage of the disease.
I suggest you to contact with your nearest Physician or Pulmonologist at the earliest for proper management of the case. No more smoking for the rest of the life.
