What Causes Blood In Stool After Multiple Colonoscopies?
77 year old male. within last year have had 3 colonoscopies looking for source of bleeding. nothing found. last one done January 2016. Dr said if some bleeding occurs, don t worry. Have been bleeding with BM and without for 3 weeks. Has now pretty much stopped but have severe pain with BM. What might I be facing and what should I do?
Mucosal damage can be a reason behind the blood in stool as you underwent multiple colonoscopies. Although other causes can be there which need to be ruled out. If the bleeding is continuous then it’s better to talk to your treating doctor about it. He might advice some blood tests if needed as well as to stop the bleeding appropriate medicines will be prescribed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
